| Come to Panama, fishing trips to Tropic Star Lodge at Pinas Bay for saltwater offshore fishing for Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Pacific Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Dolphin fish, Grouper. Tropic Star is the ultimate remote sport fishing adventure and one of Reel Danger Fishing Expeditions very favorite.
Tropic Star Lodge is a vacation and fishing resort so remote it is only accessible by boat or plane. A place where luxury and adventure meet. A paradise sliced from the side of a mountain and surrounded by a dense jungle rich with wildlife and tropical flora and the bountiful Pacific Ocean. It is truly "National Geographic Country." In fact, the August 1999 edition of The Robb Report names Tropic Star Lodge as the BEST fishing lodge in the world - the "crown jewel" of fishing.
"Panama" means abundance of fish, and Pinas Bay truly lives up to this translation. Most of the areas best fishing is just 20 minutes from the lodge - right out its front door, making this a truly unique location. The seas are quite calm which makes Tropic Star even more popular.
Black, blue and striped marlin abound in numbers unheard of elsewhere. Pacific sailfish are there year-round and from April through July, multiple hookups are the norm rather than the exception. Dolphins are also caught all year and average from 20 to 60 lbs. Each year, yellowfin tuna are boated in the 150 to 250 lb. range. Inshore, there are amberjack, snapper, grouper, roosterfish, pompano, rainbow runner, mackerel, jack and the list keeps on going. In recent years, even tarpon have made their way through the Panama Canal and a few are caught and lost each year.

PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY FOR 2008/2009 FISHING SEASON!
We are pleased to announce that our boat crews are currently gearing up their boats and checking their fishing equipment and preparing for yet another incredible season in Jurassic Park at the World Renowned Hannibal Bank! We are looking forward to having some of our past Small Boat Captains returning for the upcoming season as well! Staff mechanics are busy re-wiring boats, removing engines, transmissions, repairing, servicing, checking and painting! Busy, busy, busy! Note that the Chef took a break to go fishing and caught a Striped Marlin! That’s unusual for this area, but we have seen them! Right ON!
Moving along , we wish to advise that Captain Ted Spaligy is no longer associated with the Coral Star. So, with Captain Donald Perkins at the helm, along with the expert staff of the Coral Star, how can we go wrong? We would like to add that there are now two new relief captains licensed to operate the Coral Star. Congratulations to Captain Alcides and Captain Kid for achieving this milestone, both have received their 500 ton licenses! And the owners and staff are all excited to step it up just another notch offering our anglers the very best of equipment and tackle in our “little fishing hole” of man or woman against MONSTER FISH!
Currently, we have relocated our Marina and have a new home for our fleet in Blue Water which is not affected as much by tide as our old Marina. The dock is the most stable dock available in our area making it easier to load guests and supplies! There is a large office for on-site staff. Look for our new Coral Star Landing sign “on the right hand side of the road” says Captain Donald!
Remember we operate ON THE FISHING GROUNDS, so you bypass long boat rides getting to the fish quicker and not missing “the bite”!
With being just only months away from the opening of our upcoming 2008/2009 fishing season, you may want to consider joining us! Bend your rods our way and come catch Monster Black and Blue Marlin, Sailfish, YF Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, Roosterfish, Amberjack, Cubera “Dogtooth” Snapper (many varieties of Snapper), Snook, Pargo, Grouper, Trevally and the list goes on and on! Be on the look out for our next newsletter, as we are working on even more improvements for our 2008/2009 season...and be sure to check out the article about Magnificent Montuosa and the Coral Star in Marlin Magazine July 2008 Issue!
